This is a first for older non-consult ECUs!
You can now view and log RPM, Speed, MAF voltage, O2 sensor, Temperature, Battery, Timing and various switch settings. Diagnostic Terminal Codes can monitored and cleared. You can also perform real time tuning with this board!
This board along with the NIStune software provides consult capabilities (including Diagnostic reporting) and map tracing for non-consult Nissan ECUs

NIStune uses a daughter board as an alternative to an emulator or EPROM chip for real-time tuning using a modified version of Nissan Consult. It provides faster transfer rates, realtime modification of maps, constants and tables using the NIStune software.

NIStune uses a daughterboard for realtime tuning using a modified version of Nissan Consult. It provides faster transfer rates, realtime modification of maps, constants and tables using the NIStune software.

This is our current work in progress....
Update 1 Sep 2009 - We are
working on a USB only base image programmer to support this board. The
original base image programmer worked via parallel port and was based
from the Willem design. It did not have enough I/O capability from the
PC to support the multiplexed bus operation this board requires for
programming. We have put a design of the programmer together and that
is currently getting laid out and the firmware for the programmer is
now in work. No ETA yet but hopefully within two months!!
NIStune Type 6 Board (TBD)

We are thinknig about doing a board for R33 RB25DE/RB25DET but it involves a fair amount of work, and the parts to interface with the existing 84 pin MCU on this ECU. It is a very difficult board to get started on and requires whole new firmware code to be implemented, whilst supporting customers with our existing product line. I will start drafting schematics once Type 5 has been finished and we have got the knock sensing functionality working.
If you are looking for something to get these going then we suggest either using a HCR32 Skyline or Z32 300ZX ECU with a Type 2 board. See our FAQ topics for more information regarding these ECUs.
Your other option, if you really want to use the R33 ECU is to use an emulator with an expensive third party daughter board (pictured above) available from Sam at www.drdrift.com.au
NIStune Base Image Programmer Boards
NIStune boards are preprogrammed with your ECU ROM image when you place your order. The base image programmer boards take Type 1, Type 2 and Type 3 boards. These will also take Type 4 boards when these are available. They require a PC with parallel port and USB port or 5 - 12 volt power supply.
Workshops may wish to order blank boards which they can preprogram as required. We will be providing programmer boards (Cost $140AUD) which will initially be available to workshops to reprogram their own boards. We have produced our first small batch of working programmer boards at this time.
Note: NIStune programmers cannot be used for reading / programming standard EPROM chips. You will require a Moates, Willem or similar programmer
Wide Band

The following wide band units are supported by Nistune and can be used in conjunction with consult for AFR and auxiliary input display, map tracing and logging / replace. Capabilities depend on which unit you purchase, so research before purchasing.
We personally use the TechEdge and Innovate LC-1 units, but most do about the same job with different auxiliary functions.

Note:
Regarding LM-2 units we are still waiting for Innovate to release an updated
Software Development Kit (SDK) for this unit so we can communicate with the unit

Read upto one AFR input and

Emulation (Intronics Romulator / Moates Ostrich)
For those who wish to use emulation instead of built in boards Using a single emulator will allow you to realtime tune your 8-bit ECU board using the Consult for ECU status and accurate maptracing. Motes Ostrich 2.0 emulators now have hardware maptracing supported for 8-bit ECUs only in NIStune

Using dual emulators combined with a commercially available daughterboard for 16-bit ECUs using Consult for ECU status and accurate maptracing.

Emulation (CalumSult RealTime Board)
We can confirm that NIStune software is now compatible with CalumSult real-time boards. This means that you no longer have to use three separate programs to emulate, data log, map trace and read wideband readings on. NIStune integrates all the data together in one package and can display and data log all information together.
